Spacesuits without the wings |
The Space Suit tabard comes in several sizes (see chart below). They can be sized up or down about 4" in either direction using additional snap placements in the back (to make it smaller), or velcro extensions on the tabs (to make it larger). This will affect its screen accuracy, but allow one suit to fit a range of about 8". If you need to cover a larger range of sizes I would recommend purchasing separate tabards to cover that range. My size options are designed to maintain as much screen accuracy and as few compromises as possible.
Customized modifications are available for an additional $25. I will draft the tabard to your specs and mail you a muslin copy of the pattern to test fit. Once you have confirmed the muslin pattern fits as you intended I will proceed with the commission. Customized commissions are not returnable.
My prices are based on my materials (a fixed cost) and my labor (a fair wage for my skill). Please do not ask for a discount because it isn't "profit" on top of a wholesale item, it's my wage.
The Tabard: $175
The tabards are made from metallic gold spandex, black cotton lining, a layer of batting, and a layer of felt inside. The felt gives it added structure. They feature 6 covered buttons with hand-sewn clear plastic snaps underneath them (1 on each shoulder seam, and 2 on each side tab) and a lightning bolt pin. There are magnets in the shoulder to secure the wings in place - please let me know if you do not want the magnets included.
The fit should have 2" inches of ease for movability (no less!) The back of the tabard is slightly longer, but should still hang evenly when worn. Snapping around the lower torso means the back has to then curve over the butt (and that will effectively "shorten" it).

Gauntlets: $50
I will also be making matching gauntlets with silver gloves, same as I made before. My gloves are spandex so they do not have the zig zag stitch feature on the back of the hands, or the same method of gussets around the fingertips. I can make them in a S/M or L/XL.
Materials & Care
The materials are as delicate as they are beautiful. They hate moisture and should never be left damp. Moisture will eventually cause the metallic spandex to dull and flake. If you sweat a lot be sure to remove everything as soon as you can. The vinyl on the wings is similar and will begin to dull over time - especially if its regularly exposed to moisture/humidity.
I do not recommend spraying any sort of cleaner or fabric freshener on the spandex or vinyl materials. The inside of the tabard is cotton, so it's okay to spray that area with Fabreze.
